Field Trip: CSUS

The kids love that dad is back in school just like them.  One night I took the kids to see what it was all about.

They couldn't believe the size of the campus and loved seeing dad when his class let out for break.  Samuel even took them inside to see what his classroom looked like and where his desk was.

All was well until we left got a flat tire on the way home!  Luckily Samuel was able to reach us quickly and get us off the side of the road.  What an adventure!

Taco Soup

There's nothing like coming home from church and sitting down to a warm meal of spicy Taco Soup!  I can't believe that one day my baby boy will be sitting at the table, just like dad, asking me for seconds, and maybe thirds!

Chinese Take-out

We surprised Dad with Chinese takeout for lunch, and Gabriel watched on as we munched on orange chicken and broccoli beef.  It was a fun afternoon and we enjoyed spending some time together.

Primary Temple Activity

Our kids were so excited to attend the Primary Activity at the Sacramento Temple.

Even Gabriel was in on the action.

Among other things, they made a temple out of sugar cubes and spoke to a couple who served in the temple.

Thank you for a wonderful activity!

A father's kisses.
There's nothing like them.

Construction Zone

We visited dad on the site of a construction project.

The kids especially dug the hats, though Owen was constantly having to fix his.

Thanks for the tour!

Sundays and The Slug

Sunday is the day of rest.

And in our house, it's also when the slugs comes to life!

Iris is our Slug!
Her method of play-fighting and tickling is unique. She just sort of drapes her body over her victims and renders them immobile as they giggle and giggle under the weight of her body.

She comes by it honestly though.
The King of Slugs is, after all, none other than her father, Samuel.

They are a force to be reckoned with, but with some teamwork it's possible to bring them down.

Okay, never mind.
No one can dominate these two!

But it sure is fun to try!

Definitely Bittersweet

After Ava's graduation we headed home. Samuel had fetched Ava's scooter, and as they reached the bike trail we separated.

Ava and her Dad had one final thing to do.

You see, throughout much of the year, Samuel would do his best to make time in his day to pick up Ava from school and bring her home for lunch. Most of the time, I would hear his car pull up, and then hear his retreating footsteps as he took to the bike trail to fetch her.

Then together, they would ride like the wind on her scooter home. I would hear them both coming up the drive, a little out of breath, and usually laughing.

Next year, she'll be getting out with the big kids.

No more early out.

No more lunch time pick-up and scooter ride home.

See?

Bittersweet.

The Human Jungle Gym!

There is nothing I love to see more than my kids using my husband as a human jungle gym! The laughter and screams of delight that fill our home when this happens are un-matched. It's no wonder a favorite primary song of ours is: "Daddy's Homecoming". Otherwise known as: "I'm so glad when daddy comes home!"
