Sunny Day Hike turned...Storm!

We had planned an impromptu day hike paying no mind,
of course,
to a little thing like...

The weather!

At some point up the mountain I leaned over to Samuel and gently suggested we turn back.  However my husband was of the mindset that the weather could only be better the higher up we went.

Does that make sense to anyone?

But look at this face.

Who could deny her a potentially mud-soaked adventure?

We adored the scenery...

Looking good Elmer!

When we felt the raindrops we knew it was time to turn back.

Some resisted...

But there was no denying it...rain!

So beautiful!

Is that really my daughter?
It can't be!
She's almost as tall as me!

With some coaxing (i.e. threatening), Ava made her way back...

As luck would have it, there was a small break in the rain and a perfect trail that begged to be explored...

Well, that's easy for the rest of us to say.

Samuel 4-wheeled the boys up!

Heaven!

Alright, enough's enough.

Time to head for drier places...

Looks like you had a great time! Your husband is such a good sport to push the 4 wheeler!

Hi Laurie,
We took 80 up to Auburn and then turned right onto 49 towards Coloma. Just as you cross the bridge over the American River, you'll see a trail on the immediate right-hand side blocked by a large green gate. It's in the shadow of the Forest Hill bridge.

I'm sorry we don't have a trail name, but that's kind of how it is up there. Just tons of places to explore.

Take the family and let us know how it goes!

that's where we head when we're feeling adventurous! Ususally we drive about a 1/4 mile further & on the other side of the road. Do you guys know that trail? We've gone running there for years...one of our favorite spots!
We saw some skinny dippers on the trail you were on the last 2 times we went there & haven't been back to that trail since (too many innocent eyes to cover:)...although I'm sure you wouldn't run into that problem in the winter, lol!!!
Looks like a fun day...wet, but fun!
